The Story of Moses Priddy Books Roger Priddy 9780312514556 Books Reviews
This a book for a people who want their children to know the general story of Moses but aren't really interested in the religious aspects of the story, nor in staying accurate to the account in Exodus. It's a pretty book, and if you want Moses to be a lesson in religious toleration and identity searching, this is the book for you! The book starts out by stating, "A long time ago, the Egyptians and the Israelites lived side by side in Egypt. Although they had different beliefs they lived together quite happily."
The story gets a few of the story details wrong Miriam watches Moses from the riverbank, but "a maid" gets Moses' mother to nurse him instead of his sister Miriam doing so. God is mentioned once, speaking from the burning bush. This bush appears on the last page of the book, and God says, "Moses, you must help your people." The book concludes, "Moses listened. He freed the Israelites from slavery, and led them to a new land where they would live in peace."
